About

With Tutti all’opera, Pentaèdre delves into the rich world of 19th-century Italian opera through works that reflect the evolution of wind instruments and the birth of the modern quintet. The programme highlights leading composers such as Giuseppe Maria Cambini, author of the very first wind quintets, Giulio Briccialdi, flute virtuoso and teacher, and the famous Gioacchino Rossini.

With this programme, Pentaèdre creates a dialogue between tradition and imagination in a vibrant tribute to Italian opera. Tutti all’opera transforms the energy of opera into a dazzling chamber music experience – an album for all music lovers that is not to be missed!

Formed in 1985, Pentaèdre stands out for its bold and inspired exploration of the wind instrument repertoire. The quintet brings together five highly accomplished musicians: Ariane Brisson (flute), Élise Poulin (oboe), Martin Carpentier (clarinet), Louis-Philippe Marsolais (horn), and Mathieu Lussier (bassoon). Their virtuosity and rapport have earned them public and critical acclaim in Canada and internationally, as well as an extensive and award-winning discography on the ATMA Classique label.
