Vivaldi's The Four Seasons is one of the most famous works in music history, often reinterpreted in various ways. This recording, led by Ragnhild Hemsing with the Norwegian ensemble Barokkanerne, reimagines the concertos by playing them on a Hardanger fiddle and infusing them with Norwegian folk music traditions. The result is a unique blend of Italian Baroque and Norwegian folk music, highlighting the unexpected similarities between the two, such as ornamentation, improvisation, and rhythmic swing. Hemsing has received numerous awards for her contributions to music, including the prestigious "Spellemannprisen", often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy, which recognises outstanding achievements in the Norwegian music industry.
