About

In celebration of Sir Karl Jenkins’s 75th birthday and released to coincide with his birthday concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Decca releases 10 catalogue titles on CD.

This set of reissues completes the catalogue now on Decca, which includes the complete Adiemus series.

Quirk features the world premiere recordings of the four concertos.

Over the Stone, a double harp concerto; La Folia for marimba; Quirk, a concertante for flutes, keyboards, percussion; and Sarikiz, a violin concerto.

The album is rounded off with the re-recording of the first movement of Palladio, named after the Renaissance architect - this work was made famous by the TV commercial of De Beers “A Diamond is Forever” from 1993.

“I have dipped into other cultures and I have also introduced some oddball combinations such as a marimba [in La Folia] playing, essentially, baroque music.” - Karl Jenkins

Originally released in 2008.
